Not the Relaxing Sunday I was Looking For

I woke up this morning with the same blinding headache that started on Friday so I gave in and took my Rx meds, made some coffee and laid around this morning until about 10.

After 2 pots of my coffee and another Rx pill, I felt great. And hyper. I thought about moving around the living room layout.

First design didn't work out.

Second design I didn't like.

Third design it all didn't fit.

Fourth design was how it was at 10am ... haha, except now it was 2pm. But everything has been dusted, vacuumed and I actually did flip two of the chairs so it's a little different. A little.

Alex and I went to Sonic today for some Ocean Water and tator tots with cheese. Everyday from 2 to 4 drinks are half price so I can get the UBER SONIC OCEAN WATER for $1. And of course the little one loves his tots with cheese. It was pretty warm today so he ate half there and half back at home. I couldn't even leave him in the car while I went shopping. We went from winter to summer overnight.

I did a bunch of laundry leading up to the awards and I watched the red carpet - that's always fun. Jon Stewart came out and lasted a few minutes before busting out the "I love Obama" speach. I'm watching a Lifetime movie now.

I better publish this post before this Flinstone laptop freezes up on me.

Yabba Dabba Doooo.

Make it Right - The Lower 9th Ward

In December 2006, Brad Pitt convened a group of experts in New Orleans to brainstorm about building green affordable housing on a large scale to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Having spent time with community leaders and displaced residents determined to return home, Pitt realized that an opportunity existed to build houses that were not only stronger and healthier, but that had less impact on the environment.

To read more and donate ...

Before I left for New Orleans I saw, on Ellen, some clips of when she visited New Orleans very soon after Katrina. Katrina hit 2 weeks before I got to Texas and a lot of homeless people were in Austin by the time I got here. Ellen is from New Orleans and showed a lot of footage of the damage and of the rebuilding that is taking place. (it was her Fat Tuesday show, I'm sure some of you saw it)

Anywho, I went straight to my computer (hours before it crashed) and checked out http://www.makeitrightnola.org/. I ordered a shirt but it wasn't in time to wear it to LA. I was hoping if I wore it that Brad Pitt might pick me up from the airport. *sigh Maybe next time. *wink*wink

If you can, buy a shirt. All proceeds are going to build new homes. But be warned .... it may not bring Brad Pitt into your life .... but it will do your heart some good.

And now for the smut .... "someone cue the music"

New Orleans 2008

I went to New Orleans last week. I never planned to love that city as much as I did. I see why people are totally drawn to that place. Granted, I was only there for a couple days and I really only saw Bourbon Street but it was so much fun.

The beads, the coffee and the powdered sugar covered goodness is what I'm dreaming out. I wish I could post my pictures but until I get my computer back, they are stuck in my camera.

Karl and I went out for some coffee and beignets. Mmmmm. *lick* Talk about sticky fingers. (again, thank you Google Images)

Cafe du Monde .... Beignets and Cafe Au Lait

The Original Cafe Du Monde Coffee Stand was established in 1862 in the New Orleans French Market. The Cafe is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It closes only on Christmas Day and on the day an occasional Hurricane passes too close to New Orleans.

The Original Cafe Du Monde is a traditional coffee shop. Its menu consists of dark roasted Coffee and Chicory, Beignets, White and Chocolate Milk, and fresh squeezed Orange Juice. The coffee is served Black or Au Lait. Au Lait means that it is mixed half and half with hot milk. Beignets are square French -style doughnuts, lavishly covered with powdered sugar. In 1988 Iced Coffee was introduced to the cafe. Soft drinks also made their debut that year.

**I'll post my pictures when I can**

Bad computer, BAD!

The scariest thing that could have happened to me ... happened. My screen went black as if the power went out but it didn't. My best friend in all of Texas crapped out. *sniff *sniff (ok, not my bestest, little white furry friend, Alex, but my 2nd best friend ..... my Sony Liquid Cooled box-o-fun)

February 5th was the last time I had my iTunes. I'm dyin' here. This is the quietest my place has been since I moved in. I have maybe 10 CDs and one crappy little CD player. LOL

I sent it up to my Knight in Shining Armour today. (I'm counting on Google Images lately)

Gene ...

Haha, anyway, cross your fingers for my computer making it to Chicago safely and that he can get my stuff back. THANK YOU GENE!!
I'm on a co-workers laptop she let me borrow. It has Windows ME and is testing my patience but at least it runs, right? At least it turns on! :)

Dear Alex, Petey & Brutus (with love, of course)

Dear Dog and Cats:

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print, Petey, in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

Brutus - The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom, or the top, is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years --canine or feline attendance is not required.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door: To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture (or out of my car). That's why they call it "fur"niture.
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people. (no really, I do)
4. To you, they are an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Normally come when called
5. Never ask to drive the car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't have to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't want to wear your clothes
10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children!!!!
(Luckily none of mine can get pregnant and none of mine can get anyone pregnant .... even though Alex has tried on both cats)

Long time ago ... Alex watching his brothers play fight.

Alex and the Gray One.

Alex and the Black One. Yes, Gene, we know what you call him. ;)

Relaxing Sunday

Since the Cowboys weren't in the Super Bowl there was much less stress today than could have been. :) I cleaned, did some laundry, went to the store and baked a cake. I steam-cleaned the carpets and bleached the patio. Alex and I went on several walks ... somehow he knew it was 80 degrees out and he did not want to be in this place at all.

YUMMILICIOUS!!
