Different context, same message ... and it's Justin! ;)

Hot Ohio Night

Blah. I swear I could hold a Bikram Yoga class in my house tonight. It's 70 degrees with 79% humidity. Why get good sleep with the air on when I can toss and turn all sweaty and sticky??

In the hunt for pictures of an ice cube, I found lots of a black man and not many of little blocks of cooling, frozen bits.

However, I did find this pretty awesome t-shirt. Not sure how my nipples feel about it but neat nonetheless. :) (and a funny blurb about it too!)

The Cool Shirt is a water-cooled t-shirt. It keeps you cool. Not cool in a "I'm gonna get mad laid in this Geekologie t-shirt" way, but rather in a "not warm or hot" way. They were designed for race car drivers, and pump 45-60 degree water around your nipples through 50 feet of rubber hose. You just plug the ends into a pump, and away you go. Since I couldn't find any pricing info, and my trusty Metro doesn't have any AC, I decided to make my own for the hot summer months. Unfortunately, the water was recently cut off in my tenement, so I had to use bourbon instead. Well this morning I was halfway to the grocery store when a crappy song came on the radio and really pissed me off. I yanked one of the tubes out of the pump and let it work all that delicious bourbon down my throat. I got drunk pretty fast (drinking out of a straw gets you drunk faster) and drove my car through a Hardees. I made the most of the situation though and had a delicious order of biscuits and gravy before the police got there. In hindsight, filling the shirt with bourbon was a bad idea. Vodka or gin is probably the way to go.

I guess I'll go lay down now where I'm sure Alex will want to cuddle up and I'll drown in a puddle of my own sweat. Texas didn't kill me but living at home might.

Cornhole Fun

Funny song about the "sport". . . .

I don't even know who this is but I like Sarcastic Buckeyes!! Haha.

I don't typically sit around and Google "Cornhole" but I'm looking for something other than Beer Pong to take to the Family Reunion. Suggestions welcome.

Look how cute! Table Top Cornhole!!

Cory is 6!!

And for his birthday the boys got a filet from Texas Roadhouse and some ice cream from McDonalds.

Obviously, living with me, Alex hasn't had much "steak". Safe to say, I think he enjoyed it.

The steak part ...

The ice cream part ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORY!!!!

FOX Report w/ Shepard Smith

Love Yuengling like I do?

Wish we could get it here in Columbus?

Want to tour America's Oldest Brewery?

Watch FOX Report tonight at 7 and see Palestra.net's Summer Tour as they tour America's Oldest Brewery in Pottsville, PA. *drool

From Palestra.net:

Also known as "cereal replacement drink." Don't toss out the cheerios just yet, Yuengling only branded their brews as cereal during the Prohibition. Fortunately for us, near beer is now real beer and I'd recommend the light lager. Delicious.

Yuengling, founded in 1829, is America's Oldest Brewery. If you aren't familiar, it's a regional brewer with emphasis on the east coast.

Today, we spoke with Dick Yuengling about his family business. He's the fifth generation to own the family company. When the sixth generation takes over, it won't be Yuengling & Son any longer. Dick has four daughters!

Interesting beer trivia:
-It takes an extra two hours to brew light beers (burns more sugar)
-24-28 days from brew to bottle
-Pottsville plant uses 300,000 gallons of water each day
-Yuengling means "young man" in German

To catch the real story on how the economy and young drinking trends are affecting the beer industry - watch Fox Report with Shepard Smith Wednesday night between 7 - 8 p.m.

Brian!

Thanks for the suggestion but ...

I scored some sweet melon syrup tonight! Yum. Hmmm, wonder how it would mix with my Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.

Bud Light Presents:

Real Men of Genius:

Today we salute you, Mr. Mirror Lake Jumper-Inner

Ignoring the obvious dangers of hypothermia, you trudge onward and plunge into a 27 degree body of water in the middle of November.

Armed only with an abundance of buckeyes around your neck, you are living proof that nothing is unbearable as long as you have a big set of nuts.

Splashing around tirelessly, you disregard frigid temperatures and try to warm yourself by incessantly chanting "O-H" and "I-O."

Why do you do it they ask? Because no matter how cold it is you're not afraid to show a little school spirit and a pure hatred for those bastards from Michigan.

So crack open an ice cold Bud Light oh Legend of the Lake, because when it comes to the Buckeyes, you're simply NUTS...

4th of July in Clintonville, Ohio

Last year, 2007, for the 4th everyone went to HEBs parking lot to watch the San Marcos fireworks. They were set off right behind HEB. We were there buying more beer and I left Alex in the car without even thinking about the loud booms. He was fine. LOL

So last night we pack up the drinks, camera, phones, tarp (for the very saturated grass) and blankets. I grab Alex's leash and that didn't go over well with Don. He called me crazy and said I was a bad mom and that Alex would be traumatized. Haha. I really think Alex will be fine. We start walking and at the bottom of Dunedin, dad says again, "Last chance to take him home".
Alex was beyond fine. Could not have cared any less about what was going on in the sky. He was more interested in the glow sticks that the kids were throwing into the air. At one point, probably 10 minutes into the fireworks, he laid down like he was bored. Haha.

Good little boy...

The Buckeye Commandments

75 - Alex Boone, 23 - Nick Patterson, 6 - Larry Grant, 33 - James Laurinaitis,
16 - Trever Robinson, 9 - Brian Hartline

As the season nears... we all could use a friendly little reminder of the Buckeye football rules:

*Never agree to get married on a Saturday Ohio State is scheduled to play football. There are typically 40 other freakin' weekends to choose from...make her/him choose one of those!

*Never attend a wedding during an Ohio State football game unless you carry a TV......and watch it even during the ceremony.

*It is OK to wear an OSU football jersey even when old....and fat....and bald. Extra points if you've got an OSU baseball cap on backwards.

*Always, and I mean ALWAYS, return any "O...H" with a hearty "I...O." This is true even during funerals, sex, in foreign countries or when witnessing the birth of your child.

*When Notre Dame plays Michigan, it is mandatory to despise both teams. There are no winners.

*You despise the following teams, in order: Michigan, ND, USC, Miami (that's Florida), and Bama
*It is OK to be emotional (and even "tear" up) during the following:
-Script Ohio
-Your child's first Buckeye game
-Carmen Ohio
-During a Tressel speech
-Listening to "What I Want"
-Remembering Woody
-After beating Michigan
-Winning the National Championship
-When NFL Buckeyes state on Monday Night Football that they are from "THE" Ohio State University.
-Hearing the phrase, "Rest easy Woody, the new man has arrived."
-Ramp entrance

*It is not cool to make fun of the Neutron Man. Especially now that he is watching games with Woody.

*Buckeye necklaces must be worn at all times on game day from the time you leave your place of abode until you return.

*Always take off your hat during Carmen Ohio and physically remove the hats of anyone in your vicinity who fails to do so.

*Everyone should rush the field after an OSU home victory over Michigan at least once in their lifetime. (Extra kudos for those of you who rushed the field at IU and tore down THEIR goalposts a few years ago...c'mon you know who you are!).

*Attending Skull Session is mandatory at least once each season.

*ESPN employees must be verbally taunted at every opportunity.

*We must all pray that the next president of OSU has more of a clue than the present one. (has been resolved! Phew.)

*When you die, you must have at least one item of Buckeye memorabilia with you. (Specify which one in your will, that way your spouse won't pick something stupid).

*You are forbidden to fall for the National Media crap sandwich that Joe Pa is still a "good guy." In reality, he is a bitter, senile old man reduced to a cheerleader and referee-baitor.

*Recruiting must be followed as intensely as any game. This is true even if it puts your job/career at risk.

*Attend the Spring Game. It makes it easier to survive the summer.

*When in church, it is not sacrilegious to count being a Buckeye as one of your blessings.

*Try to never boo a former or current Buckeye football player.

*When making fun of guys in marching bands always caveat your comments with a statement that, regardless of what you just said, anyone in TBDBITL is very cool.

*Admit that secretly, you wished you played tuba and could dot the "i." You'd even be willing to put on a few dozen pounds to look the part.

*It is important to consider the "good old days" ARE NOW. Enjoy them even when OSU doesn't win the NC.

*Scarlet and Gray always works. Maize and Blue is always gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

*It is never ok to talk to a stranger at the urinal next to you unless he is dressed in OSU garb. That said, the topic should be limited to Buckeye football.

*There are no bad seats in Buckeye Stadium.

*If you attend a game at Wisconsin, you must never engage in "Jump Around" at the end of the third quarter no matter how tempting. Also, never, and I mean never, take your kids to a Wisconsin game unless you want to explain why everyone there are drunken jerks.

*Plant a Buckeye tree in your yard.

*Hang a Buckeye flag on game day. If any of your neighbors counter with a Michigan flag, it is your solemn duty to tear it down and deface it anyway you see fit.

*It is "ok" to not get the drum major thing; it is "not ok" to fail to cheer when the plume touches the field.

*In honor of Woody, the principle of "paying forward" should be practiced at all times by all Buckeyes.

*If your wife asks you what was the greatest night of your life, admit the truth - that it was January 3, 2003.

Tazo® Tea and a hint of sweetness shaken with lemonade.™

Back in Austin, Cristina got me hooked on this little gem of a drink. It's TAZO Passion tea shaken with Lemonade. You can get a little sweetener added too. I drank them, litterally, from Texas to Ohio. I'm scared to look at my bank account and add it up. Refreshing, huh?

Now that I'm back in Clintonville, there is a Starbucks two blocks from my front door. Bad, bad placement. I go in there at least once a day, if not more. One of the guys got me to start using the melon sweetener. So good!! One day I tried it with the Black Tea TAZO with the melon and love that one too!

I have some free time on my hands. So I have time to play Starbucks in the kitchen.

Here goes ...

Tea Bags

Brewed Passion Tea

Everything minus the Melon Simple Syrup

TA-DA!! (the flash made it kind of neon, but it's almost perfect)

If anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to make a melon flavored simple syrup, that's all I'm lacking. For now I used one Equal packet. I'll have to check with Brian, he's pretty handy in the kitchen.

I guess this is my first post since leaving San Marcos ... wow. I'll have to post some pictures later. I seem to be busy or on the go a lot and I'm not even working. :) And today's the 4th of July and I need to get out and fire up the grill in the rain to meet up with friends and neighbors in a little bit. Whetstone is going to be so wet tonight.

Kevin, Leah, Terra, Skyler and Luke may come down too!! Now I just need Dan, Michelle, Brendan, Brian, John and Colin here and I'll be super-uber happy. ((maybe next weekend for the block party!! right??))

Adios for now!

Where does the time go?

Oh my, my, my!! Where have you been my favorite Blog site!?! :) With everyone and their brother's mother on Facebook, I think the Blo...
