Make it Right - The Lower 9th Ward

In December 2006, Brad Pitt convened a group of experts in New Orleans to brainstorm about building green affordable housing on a large scale to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Having spent time with community leaders and displaced residents determined to return home, Pitt realized that an opportunity existed to build houses that were not only stronger and healthier, but that had less impact on the environment.

Before I left for New Orleans I saw, on Ellen, some clips of when she visited New Orleans very soon after Katrina. Katrina hit 2 weeks before I got to Texas and a lot of homeless people were in Austin by the time I got here. Ellen is from New Orleans and showed a lot of footage of the damage and of the rebuilding that is taking place. (it was her Fat Tuesday show, I'm sure some of you saw it)

Anywho, I went straight to my computer (hours before it crashed) and checked out http://www.makeitrightnola.org/. I ordered a shirt but it wasn't in time to wear it to LA. I was hoping if I wore it that Brad Pitt might pick me up from the airport. *sigh Maybe next time. *wink*wink

If you can, buy a shirt. All proceeds are going to build new homes. But be warned .... it may not bring Brad Pitt into your life .... but it will do your heart some good.

And now for the smut .... "someone cue the music"
