Irish hold off Trojans in double overtime

SPRINGFIELD — Catholic Central's Michael Sullivan blocked an extra point in the second overtime to give the Irish a 42-41 victory over Southeastern at Hallinean Field on Friday, Oct. 10.

Reed Florence of Southeastern completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Cooper to bring the Trojans within one point before the blocked extra point.

Brendan Kelly threw four touchdown passes for the Irish (5-3, 2-2 Ohio Heritage Conference). Pat Sheehan rushed eight times for 55 yards and two scores. His second TD run gave the Irish the lead in the second overtime.

Florence completed 20 of 28 passes for 265 yards for the Trojans (1-7, 0-5 OHC). Southeastern has lost six games this season by seven points or less and two by one point.

Drew Clemens rushed for 108 yards on 21 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Trojans.

Now, I was there and I swear it was a triple overtime. *shrug* Both teams wanted it really bad, luckily the last kick was blocked by Michael. With the win & Brendan's last game on the Central field, I got hugs from the two older ones (rare event) and Michelle attempted a BBJC Brothers Picture.
